The Festival of the Common Good aims to collect and enhance significant experiences that in different areas, in Molise and in Italy, operate in compliance with social and environmental responsibility to improve the quality of life of inland areas, imagining a future fruit for them. the renewal of local communities and the regeneration of territories.
The initiative intercepts a lively debate at a global level on common goods, on their capitalization and protection and on new opportunities to rethink sustainable models and lifestyles. The event is conveyed through a large network that involves associations and research centers (CIA, CGIL, SIPBC Onlus, On the side of the last ones, Circolo della Zampogna di Scapoli, Pro Loco di Castelbottaccio) which operate at regional level, but which are also present in other Italian regions. Media partners of the initiative will be the cultural monthly "il Bene Comune" distributed in Molise for over twenty years and "Terra Nuova", a magazine focused on sustainable lifestyles, distributed nationwide.
The scaffolding of the Festival is designed to capture and enhance the distinctive experiences and characteristics of the Molise reality that will be presented during its development, in comparison with other and different experiences from other Italian regions. The "Festival of the Common Good" finds its ideal location in Castelbottaccio, also to enrich the regional and national debate that exists on the recovery and enhancement of inland areas and of the Apennines in particular. Institutional guests of the upcoming edition will be the Municipalities of Castel del Giudice (Is), Loro Ciuffenna (Ar) and Gagliano Aterno (Aq), united by the complex and passionate regeneration work they carry out in the territories to which they belong. Among the numerous participations in the program, the one of Mimmo Lucano, former mayor of Riace, is noteworthy, who will talk about the community renewal and territorial regeneration project carried out in the small Calabrian municipality, with an update on the current situation and on that of the controversial and disturbing story that involved him.
In December of last year, the Municipal Council of Castelbottaccio awarded honorary citizenship to Mimmo Lucano because he was able to make hospitality and solidarity the basis of a development model oriented towards a new humanism and social justice, as a right enforceable by everyone, regardless of skin color, political or religious belief.
